Frodsham Youth Club has been awarded £3000 from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s SWAP Fund

Frodsham Youth Club, an independent charity supporting young people aged 10-18 in and around Frodsham, offers a wide range of social, wellbeing, and life skills activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a Teen Market where young members can develop entrepreneurial skills. The club provides a safe, engaging environment for youth to connect, learn, and grow.

Recently, Frodsham Youth Club was awarded £3,000 from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s SWAP Fund.

This funding will support an outreach service aimed at raising the club’s profile and engaging families positively within the local community.

The award is a significant boost, enabling the club to expand its impact by fostering stronger community ties and providing more opportunities for young people to participate in constructive activities.

This grant reflects recognition of the club’s valuable role in promoting youth welfare and community safety. It will help enhance existing programs and possibly introduce new initiatives that address mental health, female safety, and social inclusion.

SWAP:  Turning Criminal Money into Positive Action

Each year, Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner – Dan Price – sets aside an amount of money from Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) to fund community projects across the county through his SWAP Fund.  The funding pot for 2025 will be available soon.

The fund aims to tackle crime at its root cause, turning criminal money into positive action.

Community groups can apply for ‘Express Grants’ up to £1,000 or alternatively apply for a ‘Main Grant’ of up to £5,000, funding projects that will make a real difference in their communities.

Overall, the £3,000 award from the SWAP Fund is a well-deserved investment in Frodsham Youth Club’s ongoing mission to empower local youth and build a safer, more connected community.

Smithy went along to meet FYA Lead Youth Worker, Nicola Mikoleizic and to find out how the grant is directly benefiting the centre and ultimately, the users of the club.  He also caught up with PCC Dan Price.  You can listen again right here.
