GOOD MORNING CHESHIRE

It was a pleasure to welcome Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner Dan Price back into the studio this morning, for what turned out to be a particularly positive and timely catch-up.

Not only did we get an update on policing across Cheshire, but Dan also shared some exciting news: The launch of his Summer SWAP Fund – an initiative that takes money seized from criminals and reinvests it into projects that help prevent crime and create safer communities.

This summer, £50,000 has been set aside, with community groups, schools and not-for-profit organisations able to apply for up to £2,000 each to support local ideas that make a difference.

Whether it’s youth engagement, community safety or early intervention projects, the aim is simple: turn negative into positive and support the people working hard to improve their neighbourhoods.

The application process has been designed to be straightforward and accessible, and the funding window is now open until 17th June — so there’s still plenty of time for local organisations to get involved.

Our conversation also marked an important milestone, as Dan reaches two years in the role of Police and Crime Commissioner.

It’s a natural moment to reflect on progress so far, with a clear focus on delivering practical results and building long-term improvements in policing and community safety.

One standout example is his support for Esther Ghey’s phone-free education campaign, which encourages schools to remove mobile phones from the school day to support student wellbeing and reduce distractions.

The initiative has gathered strong backing – including support from the Duke of Westminster –  and has already made a tangible impact locally, with 53 schools across Cheshire now equipped with phone pouches as part of the scheme.

It’s clear from our chat that there’s a continued focus on prevention, partnership and putting communities at the heart of policing – and with initiatives like the Summer SWAP Fund now open, there’s a real opportunity for local groups to play their part in shaping safer, stronger neighbourhoods.
