Festival FoodFest & Street Fun:  6 – 9PM

The traditional fabulous FoodFest is once again the opener for our annual Lymm Festival. It takes place in the centre of Lymm Village and sets the stage for over 50 events that will take place in Lymm over the next 11 days.

Indulge yourself in a gourmet’s selection of culinary experiences from the local restaurants/bars and food outlets in Lymm, with a selection including Mediterranean, Thai, Spanish, Italian, Indian and the local bakery. With the food stalls lining the street, the village centre will turn into a giant street cafe with a choice to suit everyone.

As always, our entertainment schedule is varied, exciting and suitable for all ages. Our line-up includes local singer Jack Woodward, the wonderful Alley Cats Escape Choir, the Lymm Adivas Dancers and a kids’ disco with Chris Jackson.  No tickets required.

An Evening With Gerald Dickens:  Lymm Baptist Church 7.30pm

Festival regular Gerald Dickens – the great, great grandson of the legendary author Charles Dickens – returns to Lymm with a double-bill performance:

Mr Dickens is Coming!

A light-hearted and varied look at the life and character of Charles Dickens. Gerald uses scenes from the great author’s works, diary extracts and observations from those who knew and worked with him. With its fresh and modern perspective, ‘Mr Dickens is Coming!’ always proves to be an audience favourite

Sikes and Nancy

This is Victorian theatre at its most dramatic. Most of Charles’ readings were safe, well-known and often comic passages from his novels, but in 1869 he introduced ‘Sikes and Nancy’ to his repertoire. When Dickens performed what he called ‘The Murder’ he apparently judged the evening’s success by the number of ladies who fainted in horror.
Today it has lost none of its power. First aid will be at hand!

Lymm Sings:  Lymm Baptist Church 7.30pm

Lymm Sings (formerly Lymm Big Sing) will again be delighting audiences at Lymm Baptist Church for what promises to be another spectacular musical evening. Alongside the choir, the concert will also feature SHADES of BLUE performing exciting and original ‘a capella’ arrangements.

Susan and Michael Healey, with Josh Monks, use their combined experience in arranging music and directing these groups to bring you popular hits and musical favourites, as well as exciting new arrangements. Both Michael Healey and local concert pianist Joshua Kelly will again accompany the choir, and also perform solo items in their own unique styles.

Come along and join us for a memorable musical evening. Described by audience members as ‘a night to remember’ and ‘concerts that get better and better’, this is always a popular event.

Paul Thompson: Let’s Do It! Classic Comic Song Night:  Spread Eagle 7.30pm

Let’s do it! Festival favourite Paul Thompson is back, performing the hilarious songs of Victoria Wood, Jake Thackray, Flanders and Swann, Tom Lehrer, Tim Minchin and others, along with some of his own comic material.

Paul is a talented singer-songwriter based in Lymm. His well-reviewed album, ‘Playing with Nadine’, was awarded 4 stars by RnR magazine. He has performed all over the U.K., as well as on the radio, and is the co-author of an acclaimed biography, ‘Beware of the Bull – The Enigmatic Genius of Jake Thackray’. He has even played the same stage as Fairport Convention and Alice Cooper (yes, really!).

He performs with Nadine, a guitar once owned and named by Jake Thackray.
