Running with Heart: Tom’s seven-Day Challenge to Support Warrington Hospital

The Morning Show:  9th February 2026

This morning on Phil in the Morning on MIX56, Phil chatted with local dad Tom Dore, who’s taking on an incredible personal challenge with a truly heart-touching motivation.

In May this year, Tom will be running 7 marathons in 7 days — that’s 183 miles in a single week — all to raise funds and awareness for the Neonatal Ward at Warrington Hospital.

It’s a cause that’s very close to his heart, after the ward helped to save his baby daughter’s life.

Tom’s daughter Taiya was born on September 12th 2024, but just moments after her arrival, doctors feared she was battling a serious infection.

It was later confirmed as meningitis. Those next 48 hours, Tom said, were “potentially life or death” — a time no parent ever forgets.

Thanks to the expert care and kindness of the staff at Warrington’s Neonatal Unit, little Taiya pulled through. After two emotional weeks in hospital, Tom and his partner Talisa were finally able to take their baby girl home.

“The nurses didn’t just care for Taiya,” Tom shared, “they looked after us too. We’ll never forget how incredible they were.”

Now, Tom’s lacing up his running shoes to give back — determined to raise funds that will help other families going through the toughest start to parenthood, and to shine a light on the amazing team who cared for his family when they needed it most.

You can tune in again to hear Tom’s chat with Phil via our Listen Again link below — and, if you’d like to show your support, visit his JustGiving page to follow his journey or make a donation to this truly special cause.

Let’s cheer Tom on as he trains for this marathon mission — proving that a parent’s love can go the extra mile (or 183!).
