Shaun Ennis is a shining example of compassion and determination in his community – recently embarking on an epic fundraising journey to support BBC Children in Need and honour his late brother Christopher, who tragically died by suicide a few years ago.
Shaun, a 46-year-old dad from Clydebank, is taking on a physically demanding 465-mile running and cycling challenge from London’s Leicester Square all the way to BBC Scotland’s headquarters in Glasgow.
His goal? To raise £20,000 for the charity, helping young people across the UK who are struggling with their mental health.
Shaun’s challenge is inspired by his heartfelt wish to create positive change in memory of his brother Christopher, who was just 35 when he died.
He explained that supporting Children in Need feels like the right way to reach out and help families facing difficult times.
The route covers 465 miles and Shaun plans to complete it in just six days, battling wind, rain and fatigue with a smile and a sense of purpose.
When he finally reaches Glasgow’s BBC headquarters, Shaun intends to take a celebratory plunge into the River Clyde — a symbolic, chilly celebration of his achievement.

Shaun works with Digicare Health UK and has become a passionate advocate for mental wellbeing and suicide prevention, using his own journey to shine a light on the challenges people face and the support available to them.
Through his fundraising efforts and openness about his brother’s story, Shaun aims to encourage conversations that save lives and foster resilience within families and communities.
The warmth Shaun radiates is truly infectious.
The support he’s received so far shows just how much one person’s positive spirit can inspire others to get involved and make a difference. Shaun’s journey isn’t just about miles covered: it’s about hope, togetherness, and giving back.
