Who would have thought that from a family of heavy rock musicians would emerge one of the UK’s most talented country music artists?

This is the the story of the poor kid in a council house from Cheshire who picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of 16 and has been building an enviable reputation in the world of Country Music ever since.

Listeners of Cheshire’s MIX56 will be no strangers of Rob Wheeler and his incredible song Something About Your Eyes.  It was recently our record of the week – and it remains on high play rotation on our A List.

Something About Your Eyes has all the elements of being an evergreen classic.

It’s a big-sound production that has all the right ingredients and is truly a crossover pop song which perfectly blends the best of UK Country with Americana.

Rob is an incredibly accomplished songwriter in his own right – but this particular song has been co-written with two incredible songwriters – Robbie McIntosh and Steve Dorf.

You don’t need to be a Country Music fan to know the name Steve Dorf.

He’s written more than twenty top ten hits for the likes of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and even Dolly Parton.

He also penned I Just Fall in Love Again a huge hit for Anne Murray – a regular on Smithy’s Sunday Love Songs and one of Ian James’ all-time favourite tunes.

So how does a young lad from Cheshire end up rubbing shoulders with Nashville’s elite?  Listen on to find out more!

Something In Your Eyes is out now and can be downloaded here.

Stay tuned to MIX56 to hear more from Rob Wheeler!
