Lymm Rallies for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

The familiar sight of red poppies is once again brightening up Lymm, as the annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal gets underway.

This year, local resident and proud community volunteer Jim Meldrum is leading the dedicated team of collectors, following in the big boots of Linda, Neville, and June, who have long championed the cause with tremendous energy and commitment.

You’ll spot collection tins across the village, as well as volunteers stationed at Sainsbury’s and at Lymm Services, giving everyone the chance to show their support.

The generosity of the community is already shining through, and this year there’s been a particularly touching response from lorry drivers stopping at Lymm Services.

Many of them are former members of the armed forces themselves and are keen to give back to a cause that means so much to them.

Last year, Linda, Neville, June – together with their fantastic team helped raise an incredible £22,000 – a total that truly showed how much Lymm cares.

With Jim now at the helm, the local Poppy Appeal continues that proud tradition of remembrance and generosity.

Money may be tight for everyone just now, but every penny collected really does make a difference.

The Royal British Legion’s work in supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families is invaluable – from practical assistance to emotional support, they are there for those who have served our country.

So, if you see a poppy tin or a smiling collector around the village, please give what you can.

Together, Lymm continues to do the Royal British Legion proud.
