Knowing Your Numbers for Blood Pressure Awareness Week

This week is Blood Pressure Awareness Week, a chance to remind ourselves just how important it is to know your numbers.  Your blood pressure reading gives a snapshot of how hard your heart is working to push blood around your body.

High blood pressure is very common and can often go unnoticed because it usually doesn’t cause symptoms.

Having raised numbers isn’t a sign of failure or that you’ve been neglecting your health – it’s something that happens naturally to many people as they get older. The good news is that it can be easily managed.

Simple checks at your GP, pharmacy – or even at home with a monitor can help you stay on top of your health.

If your numbers are higher than they should be, there are safe treatments and lifestyle changes that make a real difference. Alongside medication, eating less salt, adding more fresh fruit and vegetables to your meals, and being more active all support healthy blood pressure.

By knowing your numbers, you’re taking an important step in protecting your heart and avoiding future problems.

So, during Blood Pressure Awareness Week, take a moment to get checked – it’s quick, easy, and could help you live a longer, healthier life!
