There’s nothing quite like a good cuppa — and what better excuse to put the kettle on than National Tea Day!

Across the UK, tea isn’t just a drink, it’s a daily ritual. Whether it’s your first sip in the morning, a catch-up with friends, or a quiet moment in the afternoon, tea has long been at the heart of British life. In fact, we’re a nation that still drinks more tea than coffee — and for good reason.

While many of us reach for a brew out of habit or comfort, it turns out that your everyday cup of black tea can offer some genuine health benefits too.

Packed with natural compounds called flavonoids, tea can help support heart health, improve blood circulation, and even give your brain a gentle boost in focus and alertness. It also contains the amino acid L-theanine, which is known for its calming effect — helping you feel relaxed without making you drowsy.
