Update on the Bridgewater Canal, local bus services – and the petition to save the free parking periods in Lymm and Stockton Heath

There’s a lot to cover in this update with Cllr Graham Gowland.

First, it’s good news for those affected by the breach of the Bridgewater Canal.

Temporary measures have now been put into place and the boats have been refloated.

But full repairs to the canal embankment will take some time, possibly a year or two – but in a positive step, Peel (Bridgewater Canal Company) have agreed to conducting the repairs meaning that the canal will be restored at some point in the future.

There’s been changes to local bus services in recent times – but Graham has an update to the discussions going on between the three councils involved with a view to strengthening or restoring these services.

Meanwhile, the biggest local news story dominating the headlines is the proposed abolition of free parking periods in Stockton Heath and Lymm car parks.

The petition, set up by Cllr Sally Sharma now has in excess of 3000 signatures – meaning that Warrington Borough Council have to officially consider the objections and comments from local residents.

There is still time to add your signature to the petition.  Please see our original link:  Sally Fights Back at Parking Charges
