MIX 56 CHESHIRE'S BEST MUSIC MIX

Zeffirellis Jazz Bar in Ambleside set the perfect stage for something truly special last night, as Amy Rhiannon Worth officially launched her Jazz Jive Jukebox show to a sold-out crowd – and what followed was nothing short of electrifying.
From the very first note, Amy commanded the room with effortless elegance, launching into a high-energy rendition of I Want You to Be My Baby, the Louis Prima classic that instantly set the tone for an evening packed with rhythm, style and sheer joy.
What followed was a fast-paced, feel-good journey through jazz and jive, with an impressive 22 songs performed across two vibrant sets.

While many will recognise Amy from her accomplished acting career – including roles in Emmerdale, Doctors, Heartbeat, and her standout performance as Mrs Wilkinson in Billy Elliot in London’s West End – it is her vocal prowess and natural stage presence that truly shine here.
Her remarkable range, combined with a warm and engaging personality, made every moment feel both polished and personal.
Amy brought her own unique flair to a carefully curated setlist, breathing new life into timeless classics while delighting the audience with unexpected choices such as Hue & Cry’s Labour of Love, Al Jarreau’s Boogie Down, and The Cure’s Love Cats.
It was a show designed to appeal far beyond traditional jazz fans – this was music for everyone.
Backing Amy was a quartet of exceptional musicians who created a rich, full-bodied sound that belied their number.

Matthew Newton’s keys, complete with a glorious retro Hammond sound, paired seamlessly with Mikey Ciancio’s dynamic drumming – both familiar faces to many as part of The Billy Joel Songbook.
Luke Pinkstone delivered a masterclass across sax, flute and clarinet – his infectious enjoyment radiating into the audience, while Cal Williams – well known to MIX56 listeners – brought charisma and groove on double bass, adding both depth and personality to the performance.
Together, the ensemble created an atmosphere that was truly electric from start to finish, capturing the audience and holding them in the palm of their hand throughout.
If last night was anything to go by, Jazz Jive Jukebox is more than just a new show – it’s the beginning of something very special.
With its winning blend of musical excellence, charm and irresistible energy, this is a production that looks set to become a firm favourite for years to come.
A night of pure brilliance.
