Christmas tree recycling raises thousands for local charity and end of the road for Padgate campus

It’s a Thursday and the latest Guardian has hit the news stands.  Smithy caught up with Deputy Editor, Gareth Dunning to find out what’s in the news this week.

For over 70 years, Padgate Campus has been a centre of education – though University of Chester closed the site in 2021.

Now, David Wilson Homes have unveiled plans to build 400 homes on the site – though the plans are not popular with many.

The recent Christmas Tree collection organised by St Roccos was incredibly successful – raising an incredible £40,000 for the charity.

Sad news for Knutsford as the Courthouse Hotel has closed it’s doors for the final time as the owners have entered administration.

Finally, happy birthday to Luke Littler who was 17 on Sunday!
