SMITHY & IAN
GOOD MORNING CHESHIRE

If you missed our breakfast conversation with Smithy and Ian, you can catch up again below — and if it put you in the mood for a brilliant night out, now is very much the time to act!

We were delighted to welcome Rob Spurr from Lymm & District Round Table and Clare Roberts OBE, CEO of Kids Planet Day Nurseries, onto the show this morning to talk about this year’s Lymm & District Round Table Charity Fireworks at Cherry Tree Primary School.

It is one of those events that feels properly Lymm: families wrapped up warm, the smell of food stalls in the air, fairground fun, music from MIX56 — and, of course, a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the sky above the village.

A local success story

Clare Roberts has lived in Lymm for more than 20 years, so her support for the fireworks is deeply personal. She started Kids Planet in 2008 with her father, John Hoban, and the business has grown remarkably since those early days.

Today, Kids Planet has more than 350 nurseries across the UK and Ireland, caring for over 40,000 children — an extraordinary journey that began right here in the local area.

Clare and her family have supported the fireworks event for many years, and her enthusiasm for it shines through. As event sponsor, Kids Planet’s backing helps make sure this much-loved village tradition can continue at the scale local families have come to expect.

More than a fireworks display

The annual event is a firm favourite in the local calendar, but it is also Lymm & District Round Table’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Round Table raises around £25,000 a year across its three events, with the money going straight back into the community — supporting organisations including Lymm in Bloom and the North West Air Ambulance.

Without the support of Kids Planet, Rob explained, the event simply would not be as impressive — and may not even be possible to put on.

What to expect on Saturday

The display takes place at Cherry Tree Primary School, Hardy Road, Lymm, on Saturday 7 November.

  • Gates open at 6pm
  • Children’s quiet fireworks display at 6.45pm
  • Main fireworks display at 8pm

Food and drink stalls, fairground attractions and family entertainment throughout the evening

Keeping the atmosphere moving, MIX56 will once again be on site. Our very own Amazing Grace will host the evening, while Stefan and Dane provide the soundtrack for the night.

Last chance for tickets

Final-chance tickets are now available — and this event is known to sell out and tickets are not available on the gate.

Wrap up warm, bring the family, and come and enjoy a wonderful community night under the Lymm sky!
