In this edition of Herbs with Barbara we give an appreciative nod to spring and celebrate the longer days and shorter nights.
This is a time for new beginnings – both in nature and perhaps for ourselves too.
It’s a good time to sew seeds – whether it be Coriander or Chilli, these seeds can be sewn now and provide a source of free food in the future.
And you don’t need a greenhouse or any complicated equipment – seeds can be sewn and successfully grown in your kitchen! Just make you keep an eye on the ambient temperature. Seeds, just like us don’t appreciate the cold too much!
In this edition we also discuss sprouting seeds, natures powerhouse arsenal.
Lemon balm is a member of the mint family and has been used in herbal medicine for centuries to treat a number of conditions.
It’s prized for its calming and uplifting properties and is often used to treat anxiety, stress and sleep disorders.
The plant is thriving in the wild right now – and the leaves can be harvested to make a simple tea which provides long lasting benefits!
