MIX 56 CHESHIRE'S BEST MUSIC MIX
Dale Harvey is on a mission that’s as ambitious as it is heartfelt: to visit every pub in the UK.
What started as a hobby in his home county of Nottinghamshire has grown into the Great British Pub Crawl — a nationwide adventure aimed at shining a light on the vital role pubs play in British life and supporting an industry facing tough times.
Dale’s journey began three years ago, when he and his partner, Holly Booth, grew tired of seeing beautiful old pubs closed and boarded up.
They decided to visit every pub in Nottinghamshire, taking a selfie and enjoying a drink in each one.
When they finished, the idea grew: why not try to visit every pub in the country!
For Dale, pubs are far more than places to have a drink.
He believes they are the heart of local communities – a place where people meet, talk, and support each other.
“Pubs are social hubs for people to meet and improve their mental health more than anything,” Dale says.
Many people he’s met on his travels have told him that their local pub is their only social lifeline.
Dale’s pub crawl has become his full-time job.
He spends four days a week on the road, visiting pubs from Edinburgh to Penzance.
Along the way, he documents his journey on social media, sharing daily photos and stories with thousands of followers.
So far, he’s visited over 5,000 pubs, but he’s not stopping any time soon!
Dale Harvey’s Great British Pub Crawl is about more than ticking pubs off a list.
It’s a call to action for everyone who cares about Britain’s heritage and community spirit.
As Dale puts it, “A pub that is thriving with a happy landlord is the best one. One that is not closed down. A pub that has got its lights on is the best.”
So, next time you pass your local, remember Dale’s journey – and maybe pop in for a pint to help keep Britain’s pubs alive!
Adam was delighted to welcome Dale to the Evening Show. You can listen again right here.
