Celebrating International Coffee Day at Cuppello’s

It’s International Coffee Day so where better to enjoy the perfect brew than at Cuppello’s in Lymm!

International Coffee day has been celebrated around the world since 2015 and it’s an occasion to promote and celebrate coffee – and to promote fair trade and to raise awareness for the plight of coffee growers.

You may be surprised to know that Coffee isn’t the world’s most favourite beverage.  Believe it or not, water comes in in first position – but coffee regularly battles for second place with it’s stablemate, tea!

Here’s some fun facts about coffee:

• Dutch people drink more coffee each year than anyone else in the world!
• Coffee beans aren’t actually beans – they are seeds!
• Coffee was discovered by a goat herder after he noticed his goats had lots of energy and were unable to sleep at night following eating coffee cherries!

Coffee is good for you

Well, for most people!  Coffee is full of antioxidants and can be beneficial for a range of health conditions – including heart health and diabetes.

But as always, moderation is the key word – and watch out for those very tempting additions of syrup and whipped cream…it can increase the calorie and saturated fat content more than you think!

Cuppello’s Lymm

This morning Smithy called in at Cupello’s on Bridgewater Street in Lymm for an authentic Italian brew.

The coffee shop was opened by local entrepreneur Harry Sheridan in 2023 and has quickly became a favourite haunt for coffee lovers.

Along with hot drinks, they also serve light lunches, cakes and Italian treats and are open 7 days a week.  Cuppello’s also have another shop in Ancoats, Manchester.

On the last Friday of each month, they hold a sushi night in Lymm in partnership with Unagi in Altrincham – where you bring your own bottle!
