The Morning Show:  16th December 2025

Listeners were treated to a fascinating insight into life at Manchester Airport this week when Michael Murphy-Pyle, Head of Media, joined Phil on the morning show for a friendly catch-up.

There’s been plenty happening at the airport recently, with some major changes taking shape — but Michael was keen to reassure travellers that it’s never been simpler.

The biggest update? Almost all airline departures now fly from Terminal 3, with the exception of Ryanair, which continues to operate from Terminal 2.

Behind the scenes, the airport continues to evolve as part of its £1.3 billion redevelopment project, designed to make the passenger experience smoother and more sustainable.

The great news is that travellers shouldn’t notice any disruption as the improvements progress.

As the festive season takes off, Manchester Airport is buzzing with energy.

Michael reminded listeners to plan ahead and allow plenty of time for travel, making sure you know exactly which terminal you’re flying from before setting off. “It’s one of the happiest and busiest places in the country,” he said — and as the UK’s third busiest airport, there’s always plenty happening around the terminals.

This was Michael’s first visit to the MIX56 studio, but it certainly won’t be his last — he’ll be dropping in from time to time to keep listeners up to date on what’s new at Manchester Airport.

So, whether you’re jetting off to somewhere sunny or heading home for the holidays, Manchester Airport is ready to make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
