Dan Price is the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire

Dan Price has been the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) since May 2024 and he’s already made a name for himself as someone eager to bring the community and the police closer together.

With deep roots in Cheshire – he’s lived in the area his whole life – Dan brings both local knowledge and a down-to-earth, approachable vibe to the role.

He’s got a strong background in engineering and local politics, having served as a borough councillor for several years. Dan believes in making the streets of Cheshire safer and justice more straightforward for everyone.

The job of a Police and Crime Commissioner can sound pretty formal but at its heart, it’s about being the public’s voice on police matters.

Dan Price’s day-to-day responsibilities include holding the Chief Constable to account and making sure the police force is effective, efficient, and working in the best interests of people across Cheshire.

He sets the priorities in a document called the Police and Crime Plan, decides how money is spent on policing, and checks that the force is delivering what the public wants.

Dan is also passionate about giving ordinary residents a say—he’s even introduced citizens’ assemblies, which allow locals from across Cheshire to help shape policing plans and priorities. Through these kinds of efforts, Dan wants the police to work side-by-side with the community, making sure everyone feels safe and heard, and that tackling crime isn’t just about numbers, but about real people’s lives every day.
