MIX 56 (HD) CHESHIRE'S BEST MUSIC MIX
This morning on the Breakfast Show, Smithy spoke with Beth Wright and Lauren Walsh, the girlfriend and friend of Oli Coppock, a Warrington DJ who was recently diagnosed with an Acquired Brain Injury. You can listen again right here.
This means he can only communicate through blinking, despite his cognitive functions being completely normal.
Oli overcame a brain tumour in 2023 but was taken back into hospital in May this year after developing a condition called Hydrocephalus, which is fluid on the brain.
He was then diagnosed with an Acquired Brain Injury, secondary to a Ependymoma Brain Tumour, after being found unresponsive by nurses on 23rd May.
He is now dependent on a tracheostomy to help with his breathing and has to be fed through a tube.
Oli’s friends and family, led by Beth and Lauren, have been fundraising to get Oli private rehabilitation in order to try and aid his recovery in the best way possible.
On the 29th September, a number of Oli’s friends will be taking part in a 33 mile walk from Manchester to Liverpool to raise funds for his rehabilitation.
A Go Fund Me Page has been set up to try and get as many donations as possible, as well as a TikTok account to allow people to follow Oli’s journey.
Any donations which our listeners can spare would be greatly appreciated.
