Wayne O’Brien is on a mission to raise money for Cancer Research UK

This April, Wayne will cycle from his home in Warrington – first heading south to Lands End in Cornwall.  He’ll then head back up north to Eryri (Snowdonia) to take in Snowdon.  Then, he’ll head north to Scafell Pike and will continue on to take in Ben Nevis before returning home.

It’s a gruelling challenge which will take in over 2000 miles and a total climb of just over 11,000 feet.

Smithy was delighted to welcome Wayne to the breakfast show to find out more.  You can listen again right here.

Wayne has very good reasons for undertaking this challenge and to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Seven years ago, Wayne’s older brother Ken died with cancer.  Then sadly his twin brother, Gary passed away with lung cancer last November.

Unfortunately, his sister Wendy is also currently battling Leukaemia.

He’s therefore embarking on this adventure in Ken and Gary’s memory, as well as a testament to Wendy’s indominable spirit and continuing cancer treatment.

Keep track of Wayne’s Progress

We’ll be following Wayne’s progress here at MIX56 – stay tuned for updates!

Meanwhile, you can find out more and support Wayne at his website 321ride.co.uk.
