Cadent – Your Gas Network

MIX56 is proud to be officially sponsored by Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network, bringing gas to around 11 million homes and businesses. They look after more than 82,000 miles of mostly underground pipes, safely transporting gas across the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England and North London.​

Cadent doesn’t sell gas – instead, their job is to keep the network running safely and reliably so that homes, schools, hospitals and businesses have the energy they need, every day of the year. Their engineers are out in all weathers maintaining, repairing and upgrading gas mains, including replacing older metal pipes with modern plastic ones to help future‑proof the network.​

As well as the pipes under our feet, Cadent also operates the National Gas Emergency Service phone line on behalf of the gas industry. If anyone in the UK smells gas, suspects carbon monoxide, or is worried about a gas emergency, it is Cadent’s trained team who answer the free 24/7 call on 0800 111 999 and make sure help gets to the scene quickly and safely.​

Cadent’s work in the community goes far beyond emergencies and engineering projects. The company runs awareness campaigns in schools and neighbourhoods about the dangers of carbon monoxide, supports vulnerable customers in a gas emergency, and partners with local charities, councils and emergency services to reach those who need extra help. They also provide grants and community funding for local projects and invest in tackling issues such as fuel poverty.​

Through this new partnership with MIX56, Cadent is helping to support local broadcasting while continuing its mission to keep people safe, warm and connected. Together, we’ll be sharing important safety messages, community updates and stories that shine a light on the often unsung teams working behind the scenes to keep the gas flowing.
