The Royal Cheshire Show has once again proved why it remains one of the most cherished dates in the county’s calendar, drawing in crowds of more than 88,000 people across two fantastic days earlier this week.

Now in its 188th year, the show continues to celebrate the very best of countryside life, bringing together farming, food, entertainment and community spirit in one vibrant, family-friendly event.

From the moment the gates opened, there was plenty to see and do. The show rings were packed with stunning livestock, including show-stopping sheep, magnificent horses, impressive cattle, and plenty of pigs and goats – with this year’s event also featuring one of the largest dairy goat sections in the country.

Alongside the animal competitions, visitors were able to explore a wide range of agricultural equipment and vintage machinery, offering a fascinating glimpse into both the past and future of farming.

There were plenty of surprises too, from giant tortoises delighting younger visitors to the thrill of a high-energy motorcycle display team. Food lovers were spoilt for choice with an array of locally produced treats, while craft stalls showcased the creativity and talent of makers from across the region.

As always, MIX56 was right at the heart of the action with our Live Lounge – complete with hay bales and a relaxed festival feel. Across the two days, we were proud to showcase acoustic performances from some of the area’s most exciting emerging artists, including June Holland, The Voke, Lennie Shields and Jay Hearts.

On-air, we also caught up with a host of special guests and visitors, including celebrity farmer Kelvin Fletcher and celebrity chef Brian Mellor, bringing listeners closer to the stories and people that make the show so special. You can listen back to all the highlights right here.

The Royal Cheshire Show continues to be a shining example of everything that makes our countryside community so special – a brilliantly organised event that truly gets better year after year.
