Mr Decadt’s medical career has taken him across the globe. After qualifying in Belgium, he completed surgical training in South Africa and Manchester, before earning his first MD degree at the University of East Anglia for pioneering work in evidence-based laparoscopic surgery.
Since his appointment as a consultant in 2005, he has been at the forefront of developing minimally invasive techniques for stomach and oesophageal cancer surgery here in the North West.
A leading name in bariatric (weight loss) surgery, Mr Decadt has played a key role in bringing innovative treatments to patients in the UK — including being part of the team that carried out the country’s first laparoscopic gastric band procedure back in 1997.
Today, as Lead Consultant for Upper GI Surgery with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, he continues to perform advanced laparoscopic and weight loss surgeries across both NHS and private settings.
