This Month: Changes to Motoring Laws and Your Qestions Answered
JR from Harvey Roberts Solicitors in Stockport was back on breakfast with Damian in the latest edition of the Legal Eagle, helping listeners navigate the changing world of motoring law.
With new rules on the horizon, this month’s focus was firmly on what drivers need to know to stay on the right side of the law.
JR explained how councils are set to get stronger powers to tackle pavement parking where vehicles cause an “unnecessary obstruction” to pedestrians, including people using wheelchairs, mobility aids and prams.
He also talked through the rules for keeping your driving licence up to date beyond the age of 70, including regular renewals and checks to make sure you’re still fit to drive.
The conversation turned to proposed changes to drink‑driving limits, with England and Wales expected to move towards lower alcohol thresholds in line with Scotland and much of Europe, meaning even small amounts of alcohol could put you over the limit.
As always, listeners had plenty of real‑world questions too – from who is responsible when potholes damage your car, to what you can do if you think a parking ticket has been unfairly issued.
Catch up with this edition of the Legal Eagle to hear JR’s straightforward, no‑nonsense legal advice and stay informed about the motoring law changes that could affect your everyday journeys.
