Adult ADHD Awareness Month Dr Rosie

November Shines a Light on Adult ADHD

November is Adult ADHD Awareness Month – a time to learn more about a condition that affects millions of people, often without them realising it. ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) isn’t just something that happens in childhood. Many adults live with it too, sometimes without being diagnosed until later in life.

Dr Rosie joined us to explain that ADHD can make it difficult to stay focused, manage time, or stay organised. It isn’t about being lazy or careless – it’s about how the brain works. People with ADHD may feel easily distracted or restless, and can sometimes struggle to finish tasks, especially if they’re not interesting. But they also tend to be creative, energetic, and quick thinkers.

Dr Rosie shared some practical tips for managing ADHD day to day. Try using reminders and notes to keep track of tasks, break larger jobs into smaller steps, and where possible, build short breaks into your routine. Exercise, sleep, and a balanced diet can also make a huge difference.

If you think you might have ADHD, talk to your GP or a healthcare professional. Getting the right diagnosis and support can help you find strategies that work for you.

Awareness is all about understanding that ADHD is real, manageable, and nothing to be ashamed of. With the right help, adults with ADHD can thrive – both at work and in everyday life.
