Warrington Businesses Show Resilience as Chamber Announces Return of Prestigious Awards

It was a lively start to the morning on The Breakfast Show with Smithy & Ian, as they welcomed Stephen Fitzsimons, Chief Executive of Warrington Chamber Plus and his colleague, Carolyne Kasangwa to share the latest on Warrington’s business landscape.

You might be surprised to learn that Warrington is home to around 10,500 registered businesses — from large employers like Sellafield to a thriving community of SMEs powering the local economy.

While inflation remains steady at 3%, global pressures such as rising energy costs and tensions in the Middle East continue to create challenges.

Despite this, the tone across Warrington’s business community is one of optimism and resilience.

The Chamber is actively supporting local businesses through initiatives like the Enterprise Accelerator  Programme and a packed calendar of forums and networking events.

Membership, which costs around £100 per year, offers access to practical support, valuable connections, and opportunities to grow — a real lifeline for businesses of all sizes.

Stephen also shared some exciting news — after a four-year break, the Warrington Business Awards are set to return in 2026, with a glittering awards ceremony planned for 15th October at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. The event promises to be a fantastic celebration of local success, innovation, and community spirit.

You can listen again to the full conversation right here – and find out how the Chamber is helping keep Warrington’s business scene buzzing.
