MIX 56 CHESHIRE'S BEST MUSIC MIX

Phil
SMITHY & IAN
Good Morning Cheshire: 15th April 2026
This morning on Breakfast, Smithy and Ian were joined by local adventurer, Rik Hulme from Lymm, who’s preparing for an incredible challenge – a 2,500-mile cycle ride from Lymm Cross all the way to Athens!
Setting off on 1st June, Rik will spend around three months in the saddle, pedalling across Europe and camping along the way, all in aid of two charities that mean a great deal to him.
Half of the funds raised will support Parkinson’s UK, and the other half will go to Rock Steady Boxing (Off The Ropes), a Warrington-based group running specialist non-contact boxing sessions for people living with Parkinson’s.
Rik’s inspiration comes close to home.
Seven years ago, his mum Wendy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s – but her amazing attitude has been nothing short of inspiring.
Since then, she’s cycled the length of the Danube, explored the Hebrides, taken up boxing to help with coordination, and even started learning music to support her memory.
Now Rik is following in her tyre tracks, taking on this epic ride to raise £2,000 to be shared between the two charities. It’ll be a true solo adventure, filled with determination, discovery, and (no doubt) a few mid-ride singalongs!
We’ll be catching up with Rik throughout his journey to see how he’s getting on — and to help keep his spirits high while he’s on the road.
If you’d like to support Rik’s incredible effort and donate to his fundraising total, you can do so here:
