Prostate Cancer is the UK’s most commonly diagnosed cancer in men with over 140 men a day being diagnosed with it

Unfortunately, it’s a major killer – yet 80% of men who have a positive diagnosis have absolutely no symptoms.

Phil Ormesher, Trustee of Stockport-based Charity, Prostate Cancer Now was our special guest this morning, ahead of a PSA testing event taking place at Lymm Golf Club this Saturday, 4th November 2023.

Phil was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2012.  Thankfully, he was diagnosed early and he is living his life to the full, but it could have been a different story.

Though its not totally understood why certain men are more at risk, there are certain red flags to watch out for.

Age is a big factor.  The incidence rate rises sharply after the age of 50.

And family history is very important too.

With virtually no symptoms for most men in the early stages, the first line of defence is a PSA Test.

Don’t worry – a PSA test is only a simple blood test!

The PSA Test is a simple blood test that can help detect prostate cancer.

A positive test indicating a raised PSA level doesn’t always mean that you have cancer – but it does mean that further investigation is required.

The good news is that Prostate Cancer discovered early, can be effectively treated – even cured.

You can listen to Phil’s story and the PSA test process by clicking the play button below.

Book your PSA Test

The next testing session is Saturday 4th November at Lymm Golf Club between 10am and 4pm.

It’s a quick and simple blood test and is done by a professional clinical team, who will put you at ease.

Although the testing session is open to all men, please don’t turn up unless you have pre-booked an appointment first.

The test only costs £25 and it could be the best money you ever spent.

Find out more and book your appointment at the GFCT Website.
