SMITHY & IAN
GOOD MORNING CHESHIRE
Ahead of his sold-out headline appearance at this year’s Lymm Festival, comedy legend and much-loved actor Ricky Tomlinson joined Smithy for a lively and heartfelt chat – and it’s now available to listen again.
From his humble beginnings growing up in Blackpool to becoming one of the nation’s most recognisable faces, Ricky reflects on a remarkable life and career. He shares stories from his early days, his journey through the world of television, and the moments that shaped him both on and off screen.
Of course, no conversation with Ricky would be complete without a look back at the roles that made him a household name.
From the grit of Brookside to the warmth and wit of The Royle Family, along with big-screen favourites like Mike Bassett: England Manager, Ricky’s storytelling is as entertaining as the characters he’s brought to life.
Ricky is set to take centre stage at Statham Lodge on Tuesday 23rd June with his show Retirement? My Arse! – a fascinating, up-close and personal evening with one of TV’s true greats.
Audiences can expect a candid journey through his life, including his early struggles, his controversial political past, and his rise through the entertainment world.
The evening promises much more than memories. Alongside behind-the-scenes insights and plenty of laughter, Ricky will be taking questions from the audience before rounding off the night with music and songs alongside host Asa Murphy.
It’s set to be a night full of stories, humour and heart – and with tickets already sold out, anticipation is high.
You can catch the full interview with Ricky Tomlinson and hear more of his incredible journey by listening again right here.
