Emergency services were called to Paddock Lane in Lymm at around 6:10pm on Monday evening after reports of a crash involving a cyclist and a car. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Mr Mullins was treated by paramedics, but despite their efforts, he sadly died at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police say four people — three men and one woman — have since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. All remain in custody for questioning.

In a heartfelt tribute, Mr Mullins’ family described him as a “loving Dad, husband, Brother-in-law, ‘Diddy’, Uncle, Son in law” who was devoted to his family. They said his death has left “a gap… in our hearts” and also in his role as headteacher at Stretford Grammar School.

They added: “Our love and memories of Michael will know no limits. We will love him forever, to Saturn and beyond.”

The family have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

Police are continuing their investigation and are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact officers at www.gmp.police.uk quoting incident number 2771 of the 20th of April.
