Ahead of the much-anticipated DAB+ switch-on in the Warrington area, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport – The Rt Hon Lucy Frazer – along with Warrington South MP, Andy Carter paid us a visit

For over an hour, our special guests were given a tour of the MIX 56 studios and a short presentation by members of our Kids Live @5 team, highlighting the work we do for  the benefit of the local community.  We also discussed the exciting future that is ahead for a new breed of independent local radio – and our future plans for the station.

It’s an incredibly exciting time for us at MIX 56 – with local DAB finally being switched on in our area within the next couple of weeks.

We’ll be broadcasting on the new DAB+ Multiplex for Warrington, Widness & Runcorn – also the East Cheshire Multiplex (covering Knutsford to Macclesfield) and Stockport (covering parts of South Manchester to Altrincham).

More details are to follow!

Lucy and Andy joined us in the studio for a short chat – covering the situation with Warrington’s Swing Bridges which have now been addressed in Parliament – the importance of media and culture to the UK economy and the future of broadcasting.

Thank you to our special guests.  You can listen again right here.
