Back to School, Back to Routine – and a Boost for Your Wellbeing

As the summer holidays draw to a close and most students head back to school, life starts to feel a little more structured again.

For many, that return to routine is welcome – but for others, the end of summer and the darker evenings ahead can make “normality” feel anything but positive.

Life can be tough at times, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. The good news? There are lots of small, simple things you can do to lift your mood and support your wellbeing as we move into autumn.

The Met Office has confirmed we’ve just experienced the hottest summer on record – and the good weather isn’t over yet.

We’re likely to have some lovely days ahead as we ease into the new season, so make the most of them. Get outside for a walk, a power walk, or even a short run.

Just 10 minutes a day can give your mood a real boost, and adding some moderate exercise will further lift your endorphins.

Summer holidays, time off, and fun memories might feel like they’re fading into the distance – but why not start planning your next break? You don’t have to book anything just yet; simply researching where (and when) you’d like to go next can help.

Or keep it closer to home: arrange a coffee with a friend, plan a little night away, or organise a day trip to the coast. Having something to look forward to – no matter how small – can make a big difference to how you feel.

As autumn approaches and winter waits in the distance, remember this is a special time of year. It may not be as carefree as summer, but it has its own unique appeal.

Embrace it, be kind to yourself, and be determined to make the coming months the best they can be.
