Ian James

Ian is one of the founders of Cheshire’s MIX56 and has a long career in the radio industry.

He grew up in Belgium and presented for a number of “free” radio stations whilst still at school.

After returning to the UK, he was one of the first voices on Marcher Sound when it launched in 1983 and he took over the morning show when the station rebranded as MFM.  He also presented the Late Night Love Zone for the Marcher Network – and finally the breakfast show on Marcher Gold.

His career then took him to Cardiff where he presented the afternoon show on Touch Radio for 3 years before moving to Teesside to present the morning show on Magic 1170.

After a short break, Ian joined BBC Radio Leeds and presented a number of shows for both Radio Leeds and Radio Merseyside, including “Glitterball” under the name of Doctor Dance!

During his time at BBC Leeds, his Glitterball show was the fourth most-downloaded show on the BBC iPlayer (English Regions).
