MIX 56 (HD) CHESHIRE'S BEST MUSIC MIX
Veteran BBC music legend ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris and music journalist Colin Hall presented a fascinating evening based around their mutual love and appreciation of The Beatles to a packed-out crowd at Lymm High School.
By 1963, John Lennon & Paul McCartney had written so many songs they simply couldn’t all be accommodated on just their own Beatles releases, so it made artistic and economic sense to offer them to other artists. The Merseybeat boom gave them a tailor-made outlet in artists such as Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer and Tommy Quickly.
An entertaining and insightful look at The Songs the Beatles Gave Away Bob and Colin talked about the hits, the misses – and the demos that the group never released and played previously unseen footage from Bob’s archive featuring Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
After the performance, Smithy caught up with Bob in the Green Room. You can listen again right here.
What a fantastic evening! Lymm Festival 2024 continues for a little longer yet. For event information and remaining tickets, check out Lymm Festival.
