11th to 20th September at various venues across Warrington

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, offering people the chance to discover the places, people and stories that have shaped their communities.

This year’s Warrington programme features an eclectic mix of events, with organisations across the borough opening their doors and sharing unique insights into local history and heritage. Visitors can:

 

 

  • Discover how drones are being used to help fight crime at the Museum of Policing in Cheshire
  • Enjoy a heritage walk led by one of Warrington’s librarians
  • Learn about the art of bell ringing at St Matthew’s Church in Stretton
  • Commemorate St Oswalds’ Church, Winwick and the area’s connection to the English Civil War
  • Celebrate 150 years of Warrington Wolves Rugby League
  • Visit Walton Hall to look around the Hall and view an exhibition showing the history of the Hall and Gardens
