Here’s our round-up of the week’s local news with Gareth Dunning of The Warrington Guardian.

One story has dominated the news this week:  Victory at long last for Warrington Town FC.

May day and a record crowd of 2,550 people packed into Cantilever Park to see the club win to Bamber bridge in a 1-0 victory and subsequent promotion to the National League North!

Work will shortly start to upgrade Cantilever Park to ensure the club satisfies ground-grading criteria.  It’s further investment that Chairman, Tony Macormac will need to make – but with games against the likes of Southport and Scunthorpe United in the pipeline, it’s likely there’ll be quite a few sell-out matches to come!

The Coronation

Ahead of a big weekend of celebrations, there’s a special souvenir pull-out covering some of the events that will be taking place across the area.

Of note, there’ll be a celebration fit for a King at Gulliver’s World over the weekend with special priced tickets for Children available until later today.

Lend a helping hand to your community

King Charles is encouraging us all to get involved in community volunteering on Bank Holiday Monday – and in Warrington, a special “crown shaped route” has been set out for litter picking.

If you can spare a couple of hours of your time, why not go along to the Town hall on Monday to collect your equipment!

Interest income from these investments, amounting to around £1000 a year, is distributed via small grants (usually between £20 and £50) […]
