GOOD MORNING CHESHIRE
Lymm Rugby Club is launching girls’ rugby this September, with girls aged between four and 13 invited to take part.
Ian Cope, head of Mini and Junior Rugby at Lymm RFC, and Libby recently joined us on the Breakfast Show to share the exciting news that the club is opening new girls’ rugby sessions for all age groups within the four-to-13 range.
The launch event will take place this coming Wednesday, 9 September 2026, from 6pm to 7pm on the Artificial Grass Pitch at Lymm RFC.
Coaching will be tailored specifically to the different age groups, giving girls the opportunity to try rugby, develop new skills and meet other young players.
Following the launch, weekly sessions will take place every Sunday from 2pm to 3pm, beginning on Sunday, 13 September 2026.
“We recognise there are lots of girls, across the full age spectrum, who are keen to get involved with rugby.”
Ian Cope
Girls of all eligible age groups are welcome to attend.
As part of the plans, girls in the Under-11 and Under-12 age groups will combine, with the aim of developing a team to compete locally against other clubs.
The new sessions are designed to encourage more local girls to discover the fun, teamwork and confidence that rugby can offer, while helping Lymm RFC build a strong pathway for girls’ rugby in the area.
