A ground breaking  health and wellbeing pilot was officially launched at Warrington & Vale Royal College on Friday

The DigiCare initiative is revolutionary in the UK and will support Warrington’s health care system and in the wider picture, the government’s ambitions to shift healthcare from hospitals to community based prevention and care models.

The initial pilot will be rolled out to 300 homes within the central six wards of Warrington and will include the installation of high-speed broadband – enabling connectivity of telecare and telemedicine technologies allowing more people to receive care at home.

Following a successful pilot, the initiative will be extended to more than 29,000 households in the borough, improving quality of life for those in need.

Prof Steven Broomhead MBE, Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council said:

This project represents a major leap forward for communities in Warrington. By combining cutting-edge technology with a focus on prevention, DigiCare will improve health outcomes and quality of life for thousands of residents.
