New Winwick Street Development gets the green light from Warrington Borough Council

It’s a Thursday and time for our weekly catch up with Gareth Dunning, Deputy Editor of the Warrington Guardian.

Dominating the front page this week is the news that an ambitious scheme to build 550 homes and a 160 bedroom hotel in the town centre has been given the green light by Warrington Borough Council.

The site, known as the Wireworks, is approximately 1.2 hectares in size and is split between Tanners Lane and Winwick Street.

It is proposed that at least 10% of the proposed dwellings will be affordable housing.

Read all about it in the Guardian!

Rick Astley

Rick has just published his autobiography – and as you’d expect, there’s many references to Newton and Warrington!

You can get a flavour of some of the text in this weeks paper – and try your luck at winning one of five copies that the Guardian is giving away!

It wasn’t to be for Wolves

Fans have been reacting to the heartbreaking 10-8 Super League play-offs semi-final loss against Hull KR at Craven Park.

For these stories and much more check out the Warrington Guardian website!
