MIX56 Celebrates Grant from Manchester Airport Community Fund

Cheshire’s MIX56 awarded £1655 grant from the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Cheshire’s MIX56 has been awarded a £1655 grant from the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund in what was a hotly-contested funding round.

This much-needed funding has been used to purchase mobile studio and outside broadcast equipment.

The additional equipment will help us to serve our community better – by enabling us to get out and about this summer with more outside broadcasts.

It will also alow us to recruit more volunteers – ones who want to join our presentation team, but who might have a problem getting to our studio in Lymm.

As a mobile studio, the kit can be set up and ready to broadcast live within minutes!

But in addition, it will greatly help with our training programme – enabling us to provide remote training and providing an opportunity for presenters to practice before going live on-air.

Following the January meeting of the Trustees of the Manchester Airport Community Trust, Alison Green, Community Engagement Co-ordinator said:

“It was an extremely hotly contested meeting and they granted 23 awards in total.   I am delighted that your group (MIX56) was among those with a positive outcome.”

Ian James from MIX56 said:

“Since we started broadcasting during lockdown, we’ve been doing some amazing things both on and off air.

This much-needed funding will allow us to serve the community even more, alowing us to get out and about this Summer – and will also provide a valuable lifeline for volunteers when it comes to remote training and broadcasting.

We are so grateful to Manchester Airport and the Community Trust Fund for this award.”

Cheshire’s MIX56

Cheshire’s MIX56 is a not-for-profit social enterprise run by volunteers.  

We’re bringing back local radio to a potential audience of over 750,000 adults across Cheshire and South Manchester.

We broadcast 24 hours a day from our studios in the centre of Lymm and are regularly out in the community, broadcasting live from events including the Cheshire Show and RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park.

Our volunteer presentation team includes ex-professional broadcasters and up and coming talent from the local community!

Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund

Each year Manchester Airports Group contributes £100,000 to the Fund; any fines levied at aircraft that have breached the stringent noise limits are also paid into the Fund. These funds are then used to support neighbourhood and community projects throughout the area.

The deadline for the next round of applications is 15th March.
